Our biggest problems with our past vendors have been pretty much the exact 3 things you mentioned. Pricing, and the lack of transparency regarding pricing (some of our vendors do not provide notice when the quote exceeds the normal expected pricing; sometimes they will bill for and send us non-pertinent pages, despite our requests), communication (repeated requests for corrections, ETA statuses, etc. are often ignored), and turn-times were starting to become excessive and unreliable right before we started to look for new resources. Our experience with Blue Streak in those areas so far has been excellent however.

In the Vendor Management world, it can be a struggle to hold Vendors to the highest level of accountability while maintaining that personable touch. To encourage and not to push, to inspire excellence rather than to demand results. A good Vendor Manager is a leader of professionals, not an administrator of compliance. Too often I see companies hire individuals that do not know how to conduct title research with only a #1 goal of meeting numbers. I am happy to see BSD does not do that.
